Tidal Generation

Tidal Generation Limited (TGL), acquired by Alstom in 2013, is at the forefront in the design, development and manufacture of tidal stream turbines for the capture and conversion of tidal energy to electrical power. Based in Bristol UK, our core business is the provision of equipment and maintenance services to tidal power developers world-wide.

We currently operate a 1MWe tidal stream unit at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) tidal site in Orkney, in partnership with the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI). This followed the successful demonstration of a 500kWe machine that started generating in 2010.

In 2013, Tidal Generation Ltd was acquired by Alstom, one of the world’s leading energy solutions and transport company.
