TGL has a five year technology development programme from prototype through to commercial product.
We have completed the feasibility and concept design phases of our programme, and established that our technology has the potential for a significant cost advantage over most offshore marine renewables currently under development.
We are now working with our project partners to complete the detailed design and install a 500kW machine at the European Marine Energy Centre in the Orkney Islands. Our work has been supported by the South West Regional Development Agency, the Scottish Executive and the Technology Programme.
Our project partners are Rolls-Royce plc, SLP Engineering Ltd, Ritchies (part of the Edmund Nuttall Group) and Garrad Hassan & Partners Ltd.
In accordance with the requirements of the Energy Act 2004, TGL have been required to draw up a decommissioning plan for the prototype tidal turbine currently being installed at EMEC's Fall of Warness test site.
